Nominations Open for TechAwards

For the past ten years, the Department of ICT Policy and Innovation has recognized the best in Bermudian innovation and e-commerce with the Bermuda Technology Innovation Awards, otherwise known as TechAwards.

Recognition has been given to Bermuda-based companies and products which then went on to make their mark, often on the global stage.

Speaking about technology innovation, Minister of National Security Wayne Caines said, “Since 2007, the Department of ICT Policy and Innovation has recognized the best in Bermudian innovation and e-commerce with the TechAwards.

“Bermuda is leading innovation in more ways than one, and as Bermuda continues to position itself towards becoming a leader in the fintech space, programmes such as the TechAwards help to strengthen our tech-friendly reputation. We encourage everyone who is aware of a product or tool to submit their nomination so we can recognize Bermuda’s best creative minds.”

“Each nomination will be assessed by the TechAwards Committee. Nominations that meet the appropriate criteria will be submitted to a panel of judges who may interview the qualified nominees.

Starting today, nominations are sought for Bermuda’s best in technology in four specific categories: International Innovation of the Year, Local Innovation of the Year, Most Innovative Youth product of the Year, and New Mobile Application of the Year. Each nomination will then be carefully evaluated by the TechAwards Committee. Nominations that meet the appropriate criteria will be submitted to a panel of judges who then may interview the qualified nominees. The top five finishers in each category will be recognized during the Awards Presentations in November.

Supportive of the competition, the Minister added: “Bermuda is leading innovation in more ways than one. We encourage everyone who is aware of an innovative product or tool to nominate it so that the Island may take this opportunity to celebrate advancements and achievement among the ranks of its technology trendsetters.”
